All of us at Raleigh Twestival want to extend a huge "Thank YOU!" to everyone that made this year's event so successful. Between raffles and ticket sales as well as donations of services,  we raised over $1000 for the very worthwhile nonprofit ME³. Those funds will go straight to ME³!

We had a photographer on hand for the event, taking photos as the evening went on. If you head over to his page on Facebook you can take a look at all the festivities. Be sure to tag yourself if you see your picture!

We would like to extend one final big thank you to all of our sponsors! Thanks to Busy Bee Cafe for offering the Hive for the location. Many thanks to Mike Bayley for documenting the event in photos. Thanks also to our our other sponsors- Triangle AMA, IABC of the Triangle, Tweet Divas, YNPN of the Triangle, Yelp & Triangle Interactive. Thanks also go to Bronto, Nasher Museum, BC/DC Ideas and TwitPet.

Finally- A BIG thank you to all of the volunteers, committee members and everyone who attended, donated and tweeted about the event. Every little thing adds up to an awesome event for an excellent cause!

Thanks from ME³

We are so happy to announce the support of Busy Bee Cafe. They have generously offered the Hive to us for the location of Raleigh Twestival 2011.

Busy Bee Cafe has been known to get involved with local charity events so they were excited to be able to join the Twestival team by offering their location.

We encourage you to check out their website here - Take some time to drool over their food and beer menus & check out the article that's named them one of the TOP 100 beer bars of 2011!

Remember to mark your calendar for Thursday, March 24th from 7-9 pm at Busy Bee Cafe at 225 S. Wilmington Street. And don't forget to purchase your ticket to the big event!

A little intro to ME³

March 4th, 2011 Comment

Twestival is taking an exciting approach to raising funds for a cause. In years past, we've gotten together to raise money for international non profits like Charity:Water and Concern Worldwide. This year Twestival Global wants to take it local! The focus has turned to our own community now. We are excited to be able to get everyone together to raise awareness and funds for a local nonprofit that is really striving to make a difference in our own neighborhoods.

So why ME³?

ME³ is an up and coming organization that focuses its attention right here in the Triangle. ME³ stands for Motivate, Educate, Empower, and Engage. Their ultimate goal is to connect individuals throughout the community to volunteer opportunities in Wake County. They offer education on how to get started in the volunteer community, outreach to organizations seeking help and ultimately the opportunity to serve our neighbors.

ME³ reaches out to nonprofits who may have volunteer needs, but also tries to get out there and talk to people about volunteering and the ways they can get involved. They do this through two main programs:

1- The volunteer matching program, where individuals who may not be sure how to get started or what they are looking for in a volunteer opportunity can sign up and get personally matched based on their interests, schedules, and skills.

2- The Community Leadership & Service class in two local high schools, through which they teach area youth about volunteerism, different community and social issues, and how to create and conduct their own service projects.

As it says on their website they “strive to create a culture of caring and community involvement in Wake County, North Carolina.”

We are thrilled to have ME³ on board for this year's Twestival. What better organization to support than one that seeks to motivate the community to reach out and lend a hand! It seemed too perfect a union to pass up! Let's get together from 7-9pm on Thursday March 24th and raise awareness and funds for a local nonprofit whose purpose is to raise awareness and support for those in need in our own community!

Hey folks!

It's time to save the date! Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 24th from 7-9pm! That's less than a month a way & your local Raleigh Twestival team is hard at work! We are getting everything lined up to make this year's event an awesome one! The team is currently in negotiations for the locale and we are lining up the sponsors!

Twestival is a little different this year. It's all about supporting our local community and finding a nonprofit in our own neighborhoods that we want to lend a helping hand.

2011 Raleigh Twestival wants to give support to the up and coming nonprofit- ME³. What better organization to lend a hand to than one that strives to lend a hand to our community!

ME³ connect individuals and groups to volunteer opportunities with local nonprofit partners. For more information about ME³ and what they do- check out their website here!

We are still looking for our own helping hands too. If you are interested in helping make this Raleigh Twestival event as successful as it has been in the past- please don't hesitate to let us know!
